What is Refilling Printer Cartridges?

With most popular laser printers, when the cartridge becomes empty you can buy a bottle of toner to refill it with. There are kits available for both Mono and Colour Laser printers. These kits include a matched toner and instructions for refilling. Some Cartridges need to have a hole made in order to pour the toner into the empty cartridge. It is recommended NOT to drill the hole as the small bits of plastic may fall into the toner reservoir. A special soldering iron may be purchased. The hot ring at the end of this tool is around the size of a 5c piece. Large enough to pour toner using a nozzle.

Inkjet Cartridges can be refilled by injecting ink into the empty cartridge. It is advisable to not wait till the cartridge is completely empty but to refill the cartridge while there is still some ink in the cartridge. Some Cartridges have chips which tell the amount of ink remaining in the cartridge.

When refilling these Cartridges the instructions which should come with the refill kit will detail how to bypass the chip or you may find a resetter on the Internet which will reset the chip back to full again. This is the cheapest method of running your printer and when done properly it works very well. Universal ink refill kits are available but please be careful when refilling later Canon models which need a much thinner ink so the 2 picolitre ink delivery system does not get blocked.

Save the Environment Through Recycling Printer Cartridges

It is estimated that there are up to 480 printer Cartridges that are being thrown in each minute in the United States alone. Thus, every hour, about 28,000 printer Cartridges are being discarded. With these amounts of Cartridges being used and thrown away everyday, it definitely is high time everyone does something about it. Environmentalists assert that there is a need to recycle or reuse printer ink cartridges to be able to help save the environment.

The business sector is identified as the most common user of printer ink cartridges. Businessmen are often the ones who are consuming lots of ink because they get to print out documents for offices. Coming after the businesses are households, which change toners and printers for about twice each year, still depending on overall printing requirements. There are several effective ways on recycling used printer cartridges

First, reuse your very own printer cartridge. These structures could actually be refilled. You could decide to invest in refilling kits, which could practically help save on ink cartridge costs. Such kits could have all the things you need. Aside from containing the ink, it also has the syringe for inserting ink. It is also ideal if your kit would include pairs of plastic gloves that could be used to help keep hands from having dirt or stains. You could also check out the cartridge product's manual of instructions so anyone could easily and correctly refill such. Be informed that once an ink is refilled, the ink output and quality is exactly similar to the original ink, but usually in half the price. Printer cartridges could be refilled for up to about six times before they become absolutely obsolete and useless.

Second way would be sending the toner printers and cartridges back to the manufacturer or businesses where you actually bought the products. Many cartridge and ink companies are now providing instructions on how clients could recycle cartridges. Visit such manufacturers' online sites so you could learn more. Many firms are requiring consumers to send back to the headquarters empty or used printer cartridges. In such tasks, costs of handling and shipping are usually shouldered by the involved businesses.

You could also bring the printer cartridges to specific retailers. Doing so could be a post sales strategy that could be introduced to clients or consumers. Many stores these days are facilitating and offering trade ins. Such stores provide basic incentives like store coupons, discounts, and free products on cartridge models that you would buy from them. You could be choosy and more meticulous when finding and using specific cartridge products for recycling and reusing.

To sum up, help save the planet by reusing and recycling ink printer cartridges. Either reuse them by refilling or sending them back to manufacturers for automatic reuse. By doing so, you could not just save money. You could also help reduce possible disposal or burning of plastic containers. In the end, the environment would surely stand to gain the most.
